about
Writing a song can be like writing a diary. This song started to come to life whilst my Dad was battling cancer and the lyrics fell into place during his stay at Ty Bryngwyn Hospice,Llanelli, where he sadly passed away on 4th September 2016. At the time of writing, I never intended for it to be made public, it was just a song for my Dad who fought cancer with bravery that was truly amazing. However, the hospice had given my family and I so much by caring for him with incredible care and dignity, I knew I wanted to give something back and that is how PaX grew from being a song from me to my Dad to a song which I hope will raise money to help the hospice carry on their amazing work because it truly is a special place. So, although we didn’t get the happy ending that we had so hoped for, I am determined to get something good out of the situation and raising money in my Dads name is how I’m going to achieve that.
Dad had once joked that he wanted everyone at his funeral to play All Things Bright and Beautiful on Gazoos. On the day of his funeral, a large crowd of his friends and family gathered on Amroth beach, gazoos in hand, and made a very poor but very amusing attempt at carrying out his wish. The gazoo on the cover photo is my gazoo from that day and its floating in the well that is still opposite my childhood home in Llandeilo where I have so many happy memories of Dad. Another memory that I have is that Dad always used to sign off all his texts and emails to my sister, Sarah and I, by writing Pa X and that is how this song got its name.
All money I make from the downloads of this song will be donated to Ty Bryngwyn. I hope you like it. X
